Cycling 1200km in 90 hours? I'm going to try it

After a year of training and four brevets (200km300km400km and 600km) ridden I can't say I feel ready but next Sunday August 21st I'll be in Paris to take part of the Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) cycling event. A 1,200km bicycle race from Paris to Brest and back to Paris that has to be ridden in less than 90 hours (a bit less than four days).

Here is my route plan

You can track my position in real time here and I'll try to post my impressions in my Google+ profile  and in my Twitter account.

Yes, I know, cycling 1,200km in 90 hours sounds crazy, and it probably it is crazy thing to try it; but to make it a bit more reasonable I'm using this personal challenge to raise money for cancer research. Cancer is a disease that has affected my mother and genetic laws says I might have a change of suffering it myself in the future so I want to make my bit trying to help fighting it. I'm going to donate Cancer Research UK a pound per each 10km I ride in my challenge. I already have donated the 150 GBP for my four brevets (200km300km400km and 600km) in my justgiving page and plan to donate 120 more once I finish the PBP. I'm asking you to support me making your donation at my justgiving page. Friends from all around the world helped me to raise more than 1,000 to date.

Take care
Javier Arias González
